Dwain C. Lind

February 7, 1927 ~ January 6, 2016 (age 88) 88 Years Old


Dwain C. Lind, age 88, passed on to his heavenly Father in peace January 6, 2016 at Riverside Medical Center with his wife and daughter at his side. Dwain was one month shy of his 89th birthday. Dwain was born in Chicago, IL on February 7, 1927, the son of the late Ednar and Thelma (Bordwick) Lind. On September 8, 1956 Dwain married Dolores Pack in Chicago, IL.  His family moved to Waupaca, WI in 1968 where they built a home on the Chain O’ Lakes. He worked for Sears for 42 years and retired as a department manager in the Fox River Mall. He then worked at Noffke Lumber for 14 years until the age of 78, when he suffered a stroke. Dwain was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in World War II.  He was an active member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca. He taught religious education and was also a coordinator of the confirmation retreat with his wife Dolores for a number of years. He was also a communion distributor.   

He is survived by his wife: Dolores Lind, Waupaca; his four children: Dan (Sue) Lind, Green Bay, WI; Dale (Sarah) Lind, Appleton, WI;  Dave Lind, Winneconne, WI and Denise (Tom) Roman, Green Bay, WI; his four grandchildren: Jordan (Becca), Taylor, Jackie and McKenna; his three great grandchildren: Jaxon, Jace and Lily; his sibling: Nancy Lind, Chicago, IL; a sister-in-law: Janet Hollatz, Rolling Meadows, IL; and many nieces and nephews.  

Dwain was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Blackhawks. He loved to play cards and build puzzles. He enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota, Canada and Northern WI with his family.  He also loved the many trips he took to Door County with friends and family.  

Visitation will be at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca on Saturday January 9, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Xavier Santiago, celebrant. A committal service will be held in the narthex followed by military honors outside the church after Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated and will be donated to a number of service causes in Dwain’s name.
