Wendy Winkelmann, 62, of Wild Rose, lost her short battle with Cancer on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at ThedaCare Appleton, while holding her daughter Tamie's hand.
She was born on July 23, 1960 in Waukesha, WI, to Kenneth and Beverly (Holtz) Rindt. Wendy graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 1978 and later earned an Associates degree in Nursing from Mid-state Technical College in 1995. Started her career as an RN at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital and went on to work for ThedaCare in Waupaca until she became disabled in 2010.
Wendy married Lawrence Winkelmann on December 11, 1982 and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2011.
In her younger years, she enjoyed horseback riding with her best friend, Guy. She and Lawrence raised their two daughters on a hobby farm where they raised pigs, horses, goats, rabbits and chickens. She also maintained a vegetable garden and was able teach her daughters the art of canning and a love of animals. Wendy devoted her life to the care of others as an RN throughout her life. She raised two beautiful daughters, was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She touched the lives of all those around her.
Wendy is survived by her daughter Tamie (Tyler) Smith, of Wild Rose; her Grandchildren Amelia and Bailey Gray, Seeley, August, Hunter and Megan Smith; Her sister Debra (Rick) Stamm, of MN and Her brother Jeffery (Jill) Rindt, of MN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, best friends Pam Wentzel and Skip and Marla Berglund; bonus daughter, Kayla Bohn; and her beloved cats, Beignet, Maddie and Tae.
Wendy is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Beverly Rindt; husband, Lawrence; and daughter, Mindie Gray.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
