Virginia "Ginny" Weddig Obituary

Of Waupaca, age 82, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, with her family  by her side.  She was born in Fort Wayne, IN on March 25, 1942 to the late Richard and Cora (Nicholson) Schrecongost.  Virginia graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.  She worked for the Rockford, IL School District, retiring as a middle school English teacher.  After retirement she was a substitute teacher in Wisconsin.  She moved to Waupaca to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.  She worked for the Waupaca School District as a library aide and then finished her working career at Pick 'n Save Grocery store as a cashier.  Ginny was a hard worker who loved visiting with people.  She enjoyed going out to lunch with family and friends.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and attending all her grandchildren’s functions.  She enjoyed traveling and shopping and will be remembered and liked for her witty and sarcastic personality.  She was an avid Brewers fan and was recently able to attend a game.  She loved her pets, which included her dogs she had adopted from the local shelter, and a crabby kitty.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Kevin (Denise) Carlson and Lori (Richard) Geary; grandchildren: Drew (Katie) Carlson, Tess Carlson, Grace Carlson, Samantha (Noah) Schoepke and Devin Geary; brother: Ken (Tona) Schrecongost, sister: Donna Ryan, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bill Ryan.
