Theodore "Ted" "Poppy" L. Larsen

Theodore “Ted” "Poppy" L. Larsen, age 79, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, January 22, 2026, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.  He was born in New London on May 22, 1946 to Philip and Ruby (McFaul) Larsen.

After graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps December 29, 1964 until his honorable discharge December 13, 1968.  He served in Vietnam for 18 months beginning in May of 1965.  Once released from the military, he began working for Appleton Paper Machine, then transferred to New Jersey where he served as captain of the Keyport fire patrol from 1970-1980. His family then relocated back to Wisconsin where he worked in maintenance for Weyauwega Star Dairy until his retirement.

Ted’s passion was fishing and playing cards. He also adored his family and cherished the time spent with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He will be missed by his children: Julie (James) Kolonick, Terri (Gerard) Knaus and Todd Larsen; grandchildren: Timothy (Katie) Kolonick, Tara (Chris) Nesbit, Daniel (Rebecca) Kolonick, Katelyn (Jarett) Leiner, Christa (Cole) Nenahlo, and Jonathan Larsen (fiancée Lizzie). Ted is further survived by his great grandchildren: Owen Nesbit, Wyatt Kolonick, Kallen Kolonick, Ezra Kolonick and Fletcher Nenahlo; sister, Mickey MaGruder; brother-in-law, Eddie Moeller; and many nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Verlea, Phyllis, Sandra, Janet, Janice, Don, LaVerne, Jack, David and Fay; and former spouse, Darleen Larsen.

Private interment and military honors will be held at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King.
