Terri Lynne Cook, 76, of Waupaca passed away peacefully at her home in Waupaca on Thursday, March 27, 2025. She was born on June 9, 1948 in Columbus, WI.
Terri graduated high school in Madison, WI. She later moved to Waupaca where she worked as an administrative assistant for Dr. Salan at Riverside Hospital. On December 4, 1971, she married James Alan Cook in Waupaca. Prior to their marriage she started working at Cook Plumbing and Heating with Jim, also as an administrative assistant. Up until her retirement in 2014, she worked 20 years as Trinity Lutheran Church’s worship assistant and also was the facilitator for the local MS group.
Terri lived life to her fullest with happiness and joy despite her disabilities, which she never let define her. She loved spending time with her grandson Riley, going on adventures together to parks and rummage sales, where he made her buy hundreds of useless trinkets. She loved having her sister Linda help with her flower garden and spend holiday dinners together. She was particularly proud of throwing 4th of July and paperbread parties that were “legendary” as she used to call them. She loved the Brewers and especially listening to Bob Uecker on the radio call the games as she worked on her flowers outside. She loved Fridays where she would meet up with her “therapy group” for fish dinners and other “crazy adult” activities. Overall, she appreciated all the time that she spent with family by her side.
Terri is survived by her two children, Scott Cook and Stephen Cook, both of Waupaca; her grandson, Riley Cook of Waupaca; sister, Linda (Raymond) Kan of Fort Atkinson, WI; sister, Ida Gaumitz of Mesa, AZ.; brother-in-law, Tom (Suzann) Cook of Waupaca; and so many other loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Terri was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Esther Gaumitz; husband, James Cook; and her sister, Lorraine (John) Nussbaum.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca on Friday, May 2 at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
