Richard Haug Obituary

Richard J. Haug
Of Scandinavia, age 81, passed away at home with his family by his side on Sunday, July 13, 2025. After a long, adventurous life on Earth with a strong faith in God, he now begins his eternal walk in Heaven. He was born in Covington, Kentucky in 1943 to the late Jens and Grace (Wood) Haug. His father worked in road construction so his family lived in many places across the Eastern US growing up, but eventually settled in Wisconsin to be near his mother’s relatives. Richard attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and married his beloved wife, Beverly Moon, on June 18, 1966, shortly after graduating. During his career as an accountant, he worked for the State of Wisconsin at the Veterans Home in King, and the Department of Employee Relations and Department of Public Instruction in Madison. He was an ambitious, hardworking, and outgoing man who loved talking with everyone he met and being involved in his community. He was a member of the Fitchburg Jaycees during his time living in the Madison area and he was a longtime member of Farmington Lutheran Church near Waupaca.
Richard loved to travel. In addition to taking their children camping all across the United States while they grew up, he and his wife’s adventures spanned almost every US State, including
Hawaii and Alaska; and across many countries including Canada, Mexico, islands in the Caribbean, and many wonderful places in Europe. They took road trips, cruises, boat trips, and
bus trips. Two places Richard and his wife loved and visited regularly were Branson, Missouri and Florida. Their shared love of music brought them to many shows and concerts, from local
acts to big names and everything in between. Richard also loved to photograph all that he had seen so he could reminisce over his trips. Other interests of his included making jewelry and
selling it at craft fairs, bargain shopping, going to the movie theater, watching football, and decorating for Christmas.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years: Beverly; children: Eric (Kathy) Haug and Kristine (Bill) Miller; granddaughter: Allie Genteman; step granddaughter: Ashley Mann; sister: Mary Eckstein; nephews: Cory (Brenda) Eckstein and Trent Eckstein; other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday
from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
