Philip H. Grenlie, a beloved uncle, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in Iola, WI, just months after his 100th birthday. He was born in Scandinavia, WI on October 18, 1919 to the late Otto and Inga (Nottleson) Grenlie. Philip graduated from Scandinavia Union Free High School, and then worked for many years on the family dairy farm. He later worked at Tradewinds in Manawa, and eventually retired from the Waupaca Foundry. He was married to Gladys Jensen who brought with her four children to the marriage: Emery, Beverly, Sharon and DuWayne (deceased). Philip was a kind and gentle man who loved following sports, coffee hour in Scandinavia, and was an avid fan of opera.
Philip was preceded in death by his siblings: Edna, Winifred, Herbert, Robert, Viola, and Jean. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, December 9, 2019 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Living Oaks in Iola for their many kindnesses to him.
