Nancy Faith Hartoonian passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born on September 21, 1936, in Split Rock, Wisconsin, to Ferdinand Kersten and Mildred Kersten Zeuske, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Owen (Bev) Kersten, and her sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Rodger) Stevens.
Nancy had a long and dedicated career as a cosmetologist, not only working behind the chair but also as an instructor and salon manager. She shared her skills generously, mentoring others in her profession. Outside of work, she devoted her time to her love of cooking, gardening, and many kinds of creative projects.
In retirement, Nancy moved to Waupaca to be closer to family. She became an avid volunteer, giving her time and talents at church dinners, making quilts for high school seniors and those who were ill, and knitting baby sweaters and booties for the hospital auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter: Christine (Tom) Hannon of Peachtree City, GA, and her son: Michael L. Hartoonian of Cedarburg, WI. She also leaves behind two grandchildren: Keaton (Andrew) Koukis of Lexington, KY, and Brandon (Jill) Hannon of Senoia, GA; and four great-grandchildren: Camden Koukis, Kennedy Koukis, Ledger Hannon, and Layla Hannon. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched with kindness and service.
Nancy’s family and community will deeply miss all that she gave and the warmth she brought into their lives. “We love you, Mom. Rest easy.”
Graveside services will be announced at a later date.
