Dr. Merlin E. Horn, PhD, age 90, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Korean War Navy Veteran, passed away at home on June 29, 2021. He was born in Oshkosh on January 20, 1931 to the late Albert and Selma (Dubberpuhl) Horn.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Barbara; children: Chuck (Debby) Horn, John Horn, Jim Horn, Ken Horn, Cathy (Keith) Rosenfeld, Tamyra (Alan) Strobusch; grandchildren: Josh (Christi) Horn, Ashley (Matt) Meyers, David Horn, Rachel Horn, Natalie Horn, Kita (Zak) Wheeler, Max (Grace) Rosenfeld, Jacob Rosenfeld, Erik Bakken, Kyle Bakken, Matthew Strobusch, Bryan (Gabby) Strobusch and Andrew (Gina) Strobusch; great grandchildren: Jessica, Allie, Raleigh, Hazel Grace, Olivia, Mallory and Nash; niece: Ruth Plummer and her children: Matthew, Nate and Russell; nephew: Lawrence (Jodi) Ginnow; brother-law-law, Stanley (Barbara) Chapman and sister-in-law, Marguerite Chapman. His faithful loving companions: Smokey Bear and Otis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Horn, sister, Viona Ginnow and brother-in-law, Russell Ginnow.
There will be a private memorial service with Military Honors, followed by burial in the Cremation Gardens at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Merlin Horn’s honor are encouraged to: Friends of Hartman Creek State Park, ThedaCare at Home Hospice and the Humane Society of Waupaca County.
