Marion Louise Flohr of New London, WI, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at St. Joseph Residence in New London. Marion was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on November 11, 1924 to Emil and Minnie (Kempf) Pagel. On June 24, 1944, she married Robert Flohr at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wauwatosa. They were married for 72 years prior to Bob’s passing in 2017. Marion celebrated her 100th birthday in November with a family party.
Marion graduated from Wauwatosa High School on June 13, 1941. She took secretarial classes at the Business Institute and worked as a secretary for several businesses. Marion was primarily a stay-at-home mom and also cared for her mother and mother-in-law. Marion was very active in the churches she attended. She enjoyed crafts, making greeting cards, crocheting and playing bingo and various card games.
Marion and Bob were long time residents of the Milwaukee area. After Bob retired, they wintered in Florida and summered at the family cottage in Lakewood, WI. They both enjoyed traveling and took many trips with their close friends Florence and Ellie Munroe. For their 50th anniversary, they took a trip to New Zealand. They moved permanently to Florida in 2011 and Marion returned to Wisconsin in June of 2018.
Marion is survived by her two sons: Gordy (Diane) Flohr of Waterford, WI and Ron (Joy) Flohr of New London. Grandchildren: Heather (Matt) Jellison, Ryan Flohr, Sarah Flohr, Greg Flohr and special friend Leah Lemke, and Great Grandson Ethan Flohr.
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her daughter Susan, and her brother Raymond.
Marion and her family appreciate the loving care and support provided by the staff at St. Joesph’s Residence for the last seventeen months and the staff at the Washington Center prior to that. She enjoyed all of you and her daily interactions with you along with whatever activities and crafts that were planned. Thanks also to the team from Heartland Hospice for their care and support.
A memorial service and visitation will be held Friday January 3rd at the St. Joseph Residence Chapel. Visitation will be at 10:00 followed by the service at 11:00 with Reverend Doctor Charles Thompson presiding. A private family burial service will be held at Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee at a later date.
