Of Wild Rose, age 72, passed away unexpectedly and went to her eternal home on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Wild Rose on April 7, 1953 to the late Harland “Hank” and Elizabeth (Stea) Thompson. Marie was active in many clubs and activities during high school, graduating from Wild Rose High School with the class of 1971. After graduating she started working in the business office of Wild Rose Clinic, working there her entire career. She was a dedicated employee who helped many people, serving in her position with honor and dignity. Marie was an active member of West Holden Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years, served on the church council and was a member of the ladies aid. She was on the Wild Rose Village Board and Library Board as well as One Fund Drive. She was a member and Past President of Wild Rose Lioness Club. Marie enjoyed bowling and shooting pool. Marie had many friends and her home was filled with joy and laughter in the last week before her passing.
She will be missed by her step sons: Brian and Brad Carpenter and their families; sister: Norma (Dennis) Testin; brothers: Dennis “Moose” (Pat) Thompson; George (Kay) Thompson and Gary Thompson; nieces and nephews: Kyle and Kaitlyn Thompson and their children, Theo, Calvin and Emma; Jake and Cody Jane Thompson and their children, Walter and baby on the way; Luke (Kaitlyn Clapper) Thompson; Jordan and Molly Thompson and their children, Weston and Elise; Chad Thompson and Breanna (Seth) Thompson-Brugett and their children, Avicyn and Leo; other relatives and friends too many to list. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Funeral Service will be on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at West Holden Lutheran Church, N4256 County Rd MM, Wautoma, with Pastor Amy Panza officiating. The visitation will be on Thursday at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca from 4 pm until 7 pm and again on Friday at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in West Holden Cemetery.
