Marie Krenke Obituary

Marie E. (Hohn) Krenke went to her eternal home on October 15, 2021.  She was born in the Town of Herman, Shawano County on August 18, 1932.  She grew up on the family dairy farm with her parents and grandparents.  She attended Hohn School which was a one-room schoolhouse across the road from the farm.  She graduated from Gresham High School in 1950.

She married Walter Krenke on May 12, 1951 at Elias Lutheran Church in rural Gresham.  They purchased his family’s dairy farm in the Town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County.  The couple lived there for their 41 years of marriage until Walter passed away in 1992.  Marie moved to Clintonville the next year where she lived until her passing.  She was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Clintonville, her entire adult life.

She lived a life of love for her Lord and her family.  She worked hard on the dairy farm including selling eggs to neighbors for years.  She always made birthdays special for her family right up to her passing.  She sewed hundreds of quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief.  She loved to read.  When asked what she wanted in her obituary she replied, “Keep it short.”  This typical comment demonstrated her humility, strength, and wonderful sense of humor.  She will be greatly missed but always remembered by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruth (Moesch) Hohn, her husband, Walter, her brother, Allen Hohn, her daughter, Lois Hess, her great-grandson, Linus Young, and sisters-in law and brothers-in-law Gertrude (Krenke) and Arnold Heideman, Lucille (Krenke) and Bill Pethke and Norman Rosenow.  She is survived by her children, Carl (Gloria) Krenke, Margie (John) Kaplinski, Bruce (Mary) Krenke, and Bernice (Mike) Rodencal and her son-in-law, Vern Hess.  She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Robert Hohn, sister-in-law, Evelyn (Krenke) Rosenow and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Krenke) and David Chandler, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, 100 S. Clinton Avenue, Clintonville, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon.  Internment will be at Graceland Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.  Due to circumstances no meal will be served.
