Marian E. (Johannes) Christensen

Marian E. Christensen, age 97, of Waupaca, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Crossroads Care Center of Weyauwega.  She was born in Wautoma, WI on March 13, 1924 to Thomas and Alvina (Bliske) Johannes.

Marian moved to the Waupaca area at the age of 14.  She later met Edward Christensen and they were married on April 14, 1945 and they settled on their farm east of Waupaca.  She worked on the family farm as well as waitressing for 60 years at area restaurants – the Waupaca Cafe, Jansens and the Truck Stop.  She taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church for many years.  She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and shared this hobby with several of her grandchildren.  Edward passed away on November 4, 1986.

She will be dearly missed by her sons, Tim (Sue) Christensen of Neenah and Tom Christensen (significant other, Cindy) of Waupaca; son-in-law, Robert Behm; grandchildren: Brenda (Brian) Lunde, Chris (Alicia) Behm, Denise Behm, Amy Schuelke (significant other, Leon), Jill Behm, Robbie Behm, Tommy Christensen, Branden Christensen, Andria (Josh) Lederhaus, Dan (Amy) Christensen, Tim Christensen, Jr. (significant other, Jennifer), Jennifer Christensen (significant other, Bryant) and Stacci (Todd) Barganz; and a bunch of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Karen Behm; and six siblings.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church of Waupaca.  Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Burial will be next to her husband at Crystal Lake Cemetery.
