Marcella Katherine Windisch (nee Grennier)
“Marcie”, “Silver Fox”, “Mom”, “Grandma”
On Monday, December 20th, 2021 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota, Marcella Katherine Windisch (nee Grennier) was unexpectedly called home to be with her Savior.
Marcella was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 23rd, 1945 to Raymond and MaryEllen Grennier. She attended Good Shepherd grade school and Menomonee Falls High School before she met and married Richard “Dick” Windisch at Good Shepard Church on September 11, 1965. For Marcie and Dick, home was not just a place on the map but the family they created and the people they met and loved in the thirteen places they lived during their 56 years of marriage. Throughout the years, the people surrounding them turned from strangers to life-long friends, sharing love, laughter and tears on many occasions. Throughout her lifetime, Marcie had many ambitions, utilizing her talents in more places than one could list. The first-ever woman elected to sit on the board of the Herman Consolidated School, Marcie was a passionate activist who constantly advocated for those less fortunate than her. Whether it was through a paintbrush, pyrography pen, eyeshadow palette, conversation or ministry work, Marcie always found a way to fuel her creative side and nurture both inner and outer beauty. She loved making the ordinary beautiful. Marcie was an honorary member of Waupaca Area Woodcarvers where she inspired others through her creative talents to develop their own. Marcie was an avid animal lover- with the squirrel tails to prove it. She spent years serving her church through ministry and caregiving all the way up to her passing. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in them her love for others and a faith strong enough to move mountains. She lived a full life as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mentor, and dedicated servant of the Lord, a true Proverbs 31 woman.
Marcella is preceded in death by her beloved parents Raymond and MaryEllen Grennier, her in-laws Jack and Marian Windisch, brother-in-law Michael Windisch, sister-in-law Elizabeth Windisch and great-grandchildren Michael, Payton and Amika.
