Louise Buchholtz Obituary

Of Waupaca, age 81, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022.  She was born in Oshkosh on July 2, 1941, the daughter of Alvin and Erna Nolte.

Louise graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1959 and from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1963. She taught third grade in Neenah for 3 1/2 years and then moved to San Bernardino, CA in 1967, where she continued teaching primary grades.  During this time, she learned to play the organ this led to a lifetime job of being a church organist.  She also played at Park Vista, Bethany Home and the Veterans Home in King. Louise was involved with music since age 3 when she began piano lessons. At age 10, she started taking accordion lessons. While in high school she played cello with the Oshkosh Civic Symphony.

Throughout the years, Louise has participated in several piano, accordion and organ contests in Wisconsin and California. Her most prestigious award was earned as runner-up in 1980 The National Yamaha Organ Festival in Pasadena, CA.

Louise married Ray F. Buchholtz on August 26, 1972, at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. Louise is survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray in 2016, her father, Alvin Nolte, mother, Erna Nolte Mentzer and step father, Neil Mentzer.

The Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 11 am at the Maple Crest Funeral Home, with Pastor Kurt Schilling officiating. The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Lind Center Cemetery.

Louise wrote her own obituary as published. We would like to add to that by saying that she is also survived by a dear brother and sister-in-law Arden and Beverly Buchholtz of Hartford, WI; a very special friend Carl Ninhaus; special neighbors Shirley Walhart and Amber McCoy at her Appletree Lane Apartment; and the angels sent to earth to minister to her the last 6 months from ThedaCare at Home Hospice....we miss Krissy, Emily, Nicole and Dan, but there were many we did not meet and to all of you we are so grateful and thankful for your kindness and care. Her memorial designation is for Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind, unless otherwise designated.
