Leland "Lee" "Ernie" Ernest Marquard

Of Waupaca, age 66, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020.  He was born in Waupaca on January 31, 1954 to the late Ernest and Luretta (Zempel) Marquard.  Lee grew up and spent the majority of his life in and around Waupaca.  In his earlier years you could find him on his boat cruising the Chain or spending time with friends at the Wheelhouse.  His working years were spent with the State of Wisconsin Agriculture Department and cross-country truck driving.  Lee loved to travel and took many trips with his camper, convertible, Jeep, Harley Davidson motorcycle, and even his Trans Am down to the beaches of Florida.  He was a likeable person and loyal friend.  He enjoyed his privacy, being surrounded by nature, and the challenge of growing unique vegetables, flowers and maintaining his properties.  He enjoyed the pets he had over the years and also cared for the wildlife on his property.  He loved his dog, Harley, his constant companion, he preceded him in death in January of 2020.  Lee took pride in his home, lawn and vehicles.  He found joy shooting pool, deer hunting, and having nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by his sister: Penny (Jim) Roerdink; aunts: Esther Suhs (dec 10-18-2020), Marguerite Zempel (dec 02-09-2021) and Delores Lewinski; nieces and nephew: Jennie (Henry) Jimenez; Jacci (Zach) Lutterman; Mike (Anna) Ellingson; great nieces and nephews: Lucia, Javier, Lincoln, Luretta, Clark, Noelle and Layla. He is further survived by other relatives and good friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at First Baptist Church, 1500 Roman Rd, Waupaca.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
