Kerry A. Blankenship, age 67, of Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Meadowbrook of Oconto Falls. He was born May 21, 1957 to Manuel “Skip” and Jayne (Hayes) Blankenship. He attended Oregon (Oregon, WI) and Malcolm Shabazz (Madison, WI) high schools, then received his mechanical degree from Nicolet College in Rhinelander, WI.
Kerry served with the U.S. Army, attaining the highest possible shooting rank of High Master, and served a tour in Korea. After the Army, he worked for Arnold Arms in Arlington, WA as a gun smith, where he designed and built his own model rifle that was sold publicly. Kerry enjoyed several careers, including: over the road trucker, golf course maintenance mechanic, and small engine mechanic for lawn equipment and motorcycles. He was a passionate golfer and motorcycle rider (only Harleys), and photography enthusiast.
He is survived by his daughter, Myranda Blankenship and her mother, Debbie Blankenship; siblings: Larry (Karen) Kludt, Rick (Kathy) Kludt, Lani (Phil) Harper, Sally (Tom) Poelzer, Dennis Blankenship, Jay (Ellen) Blankenship, and Jeff (Carol) Blankenship. Kerry is further survived by many, many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.
Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Kim (Scott) Kubinek.
A time of remembrance will be held from 12-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI. Military honors and burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI.
