Joyce E. (Spiegel) Jensen

Joyce E. Jensen, age 78, of rural Pine River, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  She was born October 19, 1945 in Tigerton, WI to Leonhard and Emmagene (Stibb) Spiegel.

Joyce attended Berlin High School.  On March 11, 1963 she married the love of her life, Orval, at the 82nd Airborne Chapel, Ft. Bragg, NC.  They made their life in Fayettesville, NC until Orval’s discharge from service, when they returned to WI and made their home in the Pine River area.

They were blessed with three children: Debra, Jimmy and Ricky. She loved baking and cooking for her family. Joyce worked a few years at Chicago Pickle Company of Red Granite. She was a substitute teacher’s aide at Wild Rose School District for the handicapped. She also taught vacation bible school for a few summers at her church, Emmaus Lutheran, in Poy Sippi. Joyce also cared for their special needs sons at home, until their passing.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Orval; daughter, Debra; Orval’s foster sister and brother: Joann (Terri) Innerebner and Dennis Leiskau; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fredrick; twin brothers, Ralph and Roger; sister, Elizabeth; Orval’s foster parents, Art and Gladys Leiskau; and her two sons, Ricky and Jimmy.

The funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Emmaus Ev. Lutheran Church of Poy Sippi, with Pastor Brian Weber officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Poy Sippi Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest aside her two sons.
