Joan A. (Burns) Giefer

Joan A. Giefer died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at the age of 90.  She was born in Racine, WI, one of six children to George and Catherine (Werner) Burns.  Joan enjoyed a variety of activities as well as volunteering with her church, St. Mary Magdalene.

Survivors include children: Carol (John) Gehring of Wild Rose, Dave (LuAnn) Giefer of New London, Robert (Suzzann) of Waupaca, Donald Giefer of Waupaca, and Tricia (Aaron) Meverden of Waupaca; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jill Coats of Racine.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death include her husband, Harry; son, Tom Giefer; grandson, Chad Gehring; brothers, James and Robert Burns; and sisters, Jaquie Colwell and Diane Zumpano.

A memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Maple Crest Funeral Home.  Graveside services and burial will be held in the spring at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery.
