Of Waupaca, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025. She was born in Chicago on March 20, 1935 to the late Cecil and Phylis Williams. A devoted and longstanding member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Joan’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Joan volunteered for many years serving her church, Meals on Wheels, and Hospice Care. Her steadfast presence in these organizations were irreplaceable. While Joan’s greatest joy came from time spent with family, giving to others in her local community was the centerfold of her life.
She will be missed by her children: Lynn (Stu) Holland, Jean (Gary) Hernal, Bill (Kim) Bretwisch, Bob Bretwisch, Mary (John) Barry, Ken (Stacey) Bretwisch, Rich (Betsy) Bretwisch; grandchildren Brett (Mara), Kerri (Daniel), Matt (Rebecca), Kelly (Jesse), Nick (Abbie), Jordan, Amber, Erin, Julia, Samantha, Autumn, Kaley, Ryan, Bridget, and Megan; 7 great grandchildren: Cecilia, Clara, Brielle, Mia, Everett, August, and Brady; sister: Gerri (Barbara Heinsohn) Ladubec. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Don Bretwisch.
The Funeral Service will be on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, N2845 Shadow Road, Waupaca. The visitation will be on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
