Jill Willner Obituary

Jill Marie (Riesenberg) Willner, Age 61, of New London, WI passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Residence, New London, WI after a year-long battle with glioblastoma (brain tumor). She fought a courageous battle, showing her courage, strength, and stubbornness to not let the disease win. To all who knew and loved her, she inspired us through her battle.

Jill was born in Clintonville, WI on September 21, 1964 to Herman and Iva Riesenberg. She graduated from Manawa High School in 1983. Jill married Bryan Willner in October 1997 and they had two children, Alex and Beth. Faith was a big part of Jill’s life. She belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dupont, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Symco, Trinity Lutheran Church in New London, and Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville. She enjoyed music and blessed many with her talents from playing piano for traditional services, playing piano in the ALIVE band along with her nephew at Trinity, and playing bells in the bell choir at Shepherd of the Hills.

Jill worked for the School District of New London for over 29 years. She took pride in her job and responsibilities as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. Outside of work she enjoyed baking, making homemade cards, stamping, and sewing. Jill blessed many with her delicious desserts and homemade cards during good and hard times. She was a homebody, but Bryan was able to convince her to take a few memorable trips such as Disney World and the Florida Coast, Washington DC, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arizona, and numerous day trips around Wisconsin. Jill will be remembered for her strong faith, love of her husband, children, grandchild, friends and family. Jill is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bryan Willner and their children, Alex (Hannah) Willner and Beth (significant other, Thomas) Willner and Grandson Jude Willner. She also leaves behind brothers, John (Mary) Riesenberg, Joel (Yvonne) Riesenberg, brother-in-law, Ron Flohr, father-in-law, William (Theresa) Willner, sisters-in-law, Amanda (Demetrius) Bates, Katie (special friend Wally) Walters, brother-in-law, John (Dayna) Ruggles, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jill was preceded into death by her parents, Herman and Iva Riesenberg, sister, Joy Flohr, and her mother-in-law, Kathryn Willner.

The Funeral will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, N1615 Meadowview Dr. Greenville.  The visitation will be on Tuesday at church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Residence for their exceptional care of Jill and her family. We would also like to thank the staff of Moments Hospice, (especially Maureen, RN) for the care and compassion shown to us during the last 13 weeks.
