Gloria baptized “Gregoria” Choresca Wedge, age 95, of Waupaca, died on Friday, February 12, 2021 at her beloved farm home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 9, 1925 in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines to Basilio Choresca and Monica Diel Choresca de los Santos. She survived the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during WWII; during which time her formal schooling was interrupted. Post war she met and married Jack Sheldon Wedge in the Philippines.
Survivors include Marilyn (William) Caramore of Albany, NY; Elizabeth (Steve) Nagelkirk of Marquette Michigan; Robert (Katherine) Wedge of Neenah; Harvey Wedge of Waupaca; Catherine (Paul) Pakala of Brillion, WI. Her golden legacy includes 21 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren, to whom she was “Lola”. Gloria was an extraordinary cook, passionate gardener, avid sports fan, and skilled seamstress. She had tremendous heart and continued support of orphanages and music programs in the Philippines. She proudly became a naturalized American Citizen in 1982.
A private mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church of Waupaca, Father Xavier Santiago officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lake Cemetery in the Town of Lind.
