Gary D. Potts

Gary D. Potts of Waupaca, age 79, passed away suddenly on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Thedacare Waupaca. He was born in Waupaca on December 18, 1940 to the late Clement “Scotty” and Viola (Whitney) Potts. Gary was a veteran serving in the US Army. He owned and operated Potts Bar in Waupaca. He had been a pitcher for the Waupaca Lakemen Baseball Team as well as playing men’s softball, basketball, bowling and golf. Gary was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, as well as trap shooting at the Waupaca Conservation Club. He had coffee every morning at J.R.’s with his friends. He volunteered 2 days a week at the Waupaca Food Pantry. Gary was also an excellent cook and baker. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and all animals, especially his puppy, CeCe. He also enjoyed board game days with his family.

He will be sadly missed by his wife: Marian; children: Deana (Michael) Hirte; Debra Potts; Daniel Potts, step-son: Erich (Lisa) Kleditz; grandchildren: Gary Hirte, Daniel (Ellen) Hirte and Randi Hirte (Steve Bain); step grandsons: Logan and Ian Kleditz and great grandsons: Noah and Levi Hirte; sister: Leah Rae Kowalski and mother of his children: Marian-Ann Jole; other relatives and many friends.

There will be a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 3pm until 5pm with Military Honors to follow at Maple Crest Funeral Home-Waupaca. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery at a later date.
