Of Waupaca, age 69, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021. He was born in New London on December 24, 1951 to the late Harvey and Stella (Sattler) Wendt. He spent 42 years of his life on the Wendtview Dairy Farm. He became owner of the farm in 1975 and ran it until November 18, 1993. He was then employed with Paul’s Concrete for over 20 years as a heavy equipment operator and dump truck driver. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder. Duane was currently a member and elder of Calvary Lutheran Church. Duane enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, gardening, raising Indian Runner Ducks and helping anyone in need. The greatest gift one can give is of oneself, he lived that model everyday.
He is survived by his wife: Diane; daughters: Cindy (Matt) Johnson; Lorie (Chad) Dorn; grandchildren: Ryan and Evan Ackerman, Cameron and Ava Dorn; step children: Bobbie Jo (Jeremy) Heagle ; Brett (Erin) Derus; Billie Jean (Jeremy) Barth; P.J. (Belinda) Ngelale, Elera Ngelale, Ajuri (Crystal) Ngelale; step grandchildren: Maria (Jonathan) Avalos, Cole, Caleb and Christian Derus, Keaton and Kobe Barth; Ayden, A.J., Eli and Malachi Ngelale; great grandchildren: Adrian and Lilliana Avalos; brother: Dale (Mary) Wendt; sisters: Bev (Don) Morgan, Jan (Bob) Niemuth, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Victoria, nephew, Douglas Wendt and step daughter, Jennifer Ngelale
The Funeral Service will be on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church. The visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home and again on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery in West Bloomfield.
