Of Waupaca, age 93, departed this life on earth peacefully on August 28, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born on November 16, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Charles and Elizabeth Maus. She met her first husband, Herbert W. Steller, by writing letters through Pen Pal, while he served in WWII. They were married in 1946 until Herbert passed in 1964. She was a nurturing mother who raised their three children, Tim, Ted and Julie, for ten years, until she met her second husband Lewis Emery, while working as the church secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Neenah. Dolores and Lew were married on April 18, 1975.
Dolores loved to artistically express herself through gardening, later becoming a master gardener. She found great joy in being a seamstress, crafting many items for family, friends, and those in need. She loved to cook and bake and will be remembered by being an exceptional hostess, always preparing a meal that was personalized to please her guests. Dolores will be remembered as a kind soul, with a warm, contagious laugh and above all remembered for her fierce love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert W. Steller and Lewis R. Emery, her brother, Charles Maus, whom she adored, her sister and brothers-in-law, and her dear niece, Cathy.
She is survived by her children: Tim (Melanie) Steller, Ted Steller, Julie (Jeff) Dunlap, Ellen (Paul) Lawrence Emery Johnson and Mark Emery; grandchildren: Jeff (Tammy) Steller, Jenny (Bradley) Steller Haugland, Ben (Colleen) Steller, Heidi (Jason) Kunde, Katie (Tad) Peterson, Rebecca (David) Ebben, Rich (Paula) Roehrick, Frances (Doran) Steele, and Bailey (Saif) Khan Kasten. She is further survived by twenty great grandchildren.
Family will be hosting a private celebration of life, honoring a life well lived at a later date with location and time to be determined.
We would like to extend a heartfelt sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at Park Vista Assisted Living and Thedacare Hospice, who provided loving and compassionate care allowing her quality of life to be the best it could be during her last days.
