Dennis P. Nelson

Dennis Nelson, 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 27, 2025. Born on April 8, 1956, Dennis lived life as a true free spirit—always marching to the beat of his own drum. His fun-loving nature, generosity, and gift for storytelling drew countless friends to him, and his laughter was a constant source of joy to those around him. 

Blessed with remarkable mechanical skills, Dennis could turn a wrench with the best of them. He was always ready to lend a hand, whether fixing something or simply offering his time and care. 

Seventeen years ago, Dennis met the love of his life, Lori Kohl. Together they shared endless joy, adventure, and companionship. Their life together in the north woods—and most recently in Manawa, Wisconsin—was filled with simple pleasures, deep love, and cherished memories. 

Dennis is survived by his beloved, Lori Kohl; his daughter Jodi (Tony) Jackson; grandchildren Destiny (Jeremy) Phillips, Anthony, and Brenden; great-grandchildren Kanyon and River Phillips; step-children Leanne and Paul Pamperin; and his siblings Ted (Wendy) Nelson, Margo (Terry) Thorsen, Paul Nelson, Nick Nelson, and Kristin (Jay) Heppe and countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Nelson, mother Natalie “Doll” Nelson (née Reilly), brother Rick and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Liz) Nelson, sister Natalie “Nettie” Erickson, sister-in-law Laurie Nelson, and nephew James Nelson.
