Daniel F. Gerhardt

August 29, 1940 ~ July 22, 2023 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Obituary

Daniel F. Gerhardt, born August 29, 1940 in Neenah, WI to Armin and Ruth (Gehrke) Gerhardt, passed away July 22, 2023 at his home in Wild Rose, with his wife and daughter by his side.  He had entered hospice just two days prior.

Daniel was a great example of a life well lived.  He graduated from Neenah High, raised four children, and worked at Banta’s in Menasha for 41 years.  He had purchased 40 acres in Waushara County a number of years before his retirement where he hunted and eventually built his dream home - and raised chickens.  He was an avid sportsman, finding time to volunteer at Twin City Rod & Gun, Boy & Girls Brigade, Camp Onaway, Moles Unlimited, Sturgeons for Tomorrow (picture on p. 75 in book of same title), and Ducks Unlimited.  He had a collection of patrons license stamps dating back to 1935, mounted in frames that will be donated to Necedah National Wildlife Refuge.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mavis; his children, Jackie (Brian Erdmann), Jennifer Thomsen, Jeffrey (Leslie); four step-children, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Marion (Dr. Joseph Manago), brothers Armin II, Fred and David (Bonnie Kontos), and just recently his oldest son Daniel F. Gerhardt Jr. (Sue) and sister-in-law Beatrice (Armin II).

He has requested there not be a funeral.  Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery, Neenah.

Thank you to the “Angels” on duty 24-7 at ThedaCare Hospice.  God Bless you! Daniel gave us the gift of letting go as he ventured into dementia.
