Cherie Stevens Obituary

Cherie Jean Stevens of Scandinavia, Wisconsin, peacefully passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 5, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born June 16, 1947 in Missoula, Montana to Jean and Beulah Pronovost, Cherie was the oldest of nine children. She grew up in Missoula, attending Missoula County High School and in her youth she had a very special relationship with her maternal grandmother Ruth Cadieux.  Cherie met and married the love of her life Gary Stevens on October 9,1965.  For nearly 60 years they watched their family grow, as the Lord blessed them with four children and 44 grand and great-grandchildren.  Gary and Cherie started and grew their family in Western Montana, raising their children in Victor and eventually moved to Central Wisconsin where she spent the last 22 years creating a warm and family oriented home. Cherie cherished spending time with those she loved the most. The family dining room was the center of her universe where she worked selflessly to gather and serve family and friends, creating lifelong memories that will long endure.  Cherie was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and she fought it with grace, holding tightly to Jesus Christ every step along the way.  In her final days she had no fear as she clung to Jesus and passed from this life to the next with utter confidence and peace.

Cherie is survived by her husband Gary Stevens, four biological children, stepson and numerous grand children and great grandchildren. Son Todd (Michelle) Stevens, daughter Shannon (Russ) Scheffel, daughter Becky (Mike) Drechsler; son Paul (Becky) Stevens, and step son Dennis (Kim) Hendrickson. She is also survived by seven siblings, Lacy Culver, Nova Ostrom, Bill Pronovost, Jean Pronovost, Kolene Gardner, Kelli Pronovost and Kara Bonahoom.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her sister Lanette Carlson, grandson Alexander Arnlund and granddaughter Kameron Arnlund.

A celebration of life will be held at Faith Community Church (N2541 County Hwy K, Waupaca, WI) for local friends and family on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, visitation at 12:30 p.m. with service to begin at 1 p.m.  A memorial also will be held in Western Montana, on June 13, 2026 for family and friends in Montana, location TBD.
