Calvin "Cal" Jenks Obituary

A longtime resident of Wild Rose, peacefully went to his heavenly father on May 5th, 2025, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, at the age of 89. He was born on December 29, 1935, in Saxeville, Wisconsin, and spent his childhood growing up on the family farm.

He was the devoted husband of Betty (Rodencal) Jenks, and together they built a beautiful life and shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.

Calvin's legacy continues through his children: Julie (Larry) Johannes of Wild Rose, Kelly (Dale) Waala of Waupaca, Lisa (Chad) Streck of Appleton, and Matt (Lori) Jenks of Appleton. He was a cherished grandfather to Kimberly (Brian) Hughes, Kenneth (Sandy Edgerly) Johannes, Chelsea (Kevin) Doro, Preston Waala, Jens (Miranda) Streck, Erik Streck, Madalyn Jenks, and Islea (Franky Umentum) Jenks, and a proud great-grandfather to Lincoln Johannes and Sybil Doro.

He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel Jenks and Larry Jenks; brother-in-law Allan Manske; sister-in-law Erna Fredrick.

Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty; his parents, John and Myrtle Jenks; his brothers, Doug Jenks and Eugene Jenks; his sister, Darlene Manske; his sisters-in-laws, Evelyn Jenks, Leola Jenks, Donna Jenks, and Irma Rodencal; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Rodencal.

Calvin worked many jobs over the years but was most proud to be a co-owner of Jenks Heating and Cooling. He was a committed member of the Wild Rose community, a lifetime member of the Wild Rose Fire Department, a longtime member and former Village President of the Wild Rose Village Board, and was a dedicated and lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

He embraced his farming roots by planting and caring for a large garden and was happy to share his harvest with anyone. He treasured his yearly fishing excursions "Up North" with his family, a tradition that continues to this day by his children and their families. He also enjoyed his travels to Mexico, Hawaii, and beyond with his sister Darlene and brother-in-law Allan.

Most people that knew him would have a hard time believing his nickname in his high school yearbook was “Silent Cal.” He had a genuine warmth and gift of gab that allowed him to forge friendships effortlessly, and upon meeting someone new, they would invariably leave the conversation feeling like they had known him for years.

Calvin will be fondly remembered for his gentle nature, dedication to his family and community, and his willingness to help anyone at any time. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He often concluded conversations with a simple and accepting, "that's ok."

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Park Vista Assisted Living for their care and support during Calvin’s time there. Heartfelt thanks also go to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Thedacare Medical Center, Waupaca for their attentive and professional care. Finally, we are deeply appreciative of the team at Fresenius Kidney Care for their support and treatment.

A celebration of Calvin's life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca.  The visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 9 a until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Hill Top Cemetery in Saxeville.
