Ann Marie Skipchak passed away on July 23, 2023 at the age of 72. Ann was born in North Central Wisconsin to Herbert and Marion (Falstad) Mauritz. Ann married Steve (Skip) Skipchak and moved to Waupaca where she had a long career with the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King including serving as Union President.
Ann will be greatly missed by her son, Jeff (Amy) Levy as well as her brothers Ray (Debi) Mauritz, Mike Mauritz, Tom Mauritz, Dan (Karen) Mauritz, Phil Mauritz, Steve (Julie) Mauritz and sister, Sandy (Fernando) Mengo. Ann loved spending time with her extended family – Rosie Wichman, John (Cindy) Skipchak and Linda Kubczak. All their children and grandchildren were also very special to Ann.
In life, Ann adored spending summers with Skip in Eagle River. “Axe-handle Annie” loved sharing a campfire, being outside and planting flowers in her garden. She was very creative with flower arranging, holiday decorating and card making. Ann was a big Green Bay Packer fan and an avid bird watcher – especially hummingbirds.
Ann will be buried with Steve at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is planned for a future date.
The family would also like to thank Ann’s wonderful family of friends for their help and support over the years – special thank you to Jeff and George.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Honor Flight - https://www.honorflight.org/ or Cherish WIsconsin Outdoors Fund - https://www.wisconservation.org/cherish/, in Ann’s name.
