Dean Lang Obituary

Of Waupaca, age 92, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at home.  He was born in Oak Creek on July 19, 1926.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce; daughters: Darcy Lang, , Sally (Robert) Burseth, Holly (Blaine) Erdmann; sons: Randy Lang, Ray Wallace and Raymond Wallace;  grandchildren: Casey Liederbach, Katie Wallace, Raelynn Wallace, Lukas Erdmann, Logan Erdmann, Levi Erdmann, Melissa Oshkehequoam, Justin, Joel and Jay Burseth and spouses; and sister: June (Jim) Buchmeier , other relatives and friends.

Dean was a graduate of Custer High School.  He was drafted into service from 1944 to 1946.  In his younger years he was a semi-pro baseball player.  He played for teams of White Fish Bay, Harvey Wallbangers and Town of Lake as a pitcher. He was also a semi-pro bowler on a team of State Champions.  He worked for Briggs and Stratton as a Layout Supervisor Inspector, while residing in Sussex, until his retirement in 1987 when he moved to Lake Wisconsin for 13 years, then later to Waupaca.

We all remember him as a Mr. Sportsman.  He never met a ball he didn’t like.  Whenever we’d ask if he was watching a certain program he’s say “Does it have a ball?”  There wasn’t a sport he didn’t like.  He was a Brewer, Bucks, Badgers and Packers Fan, but his main love was for his family and his country.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Pavilion in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to cancer research.
