Dean was a graduate of Custer High School. He was drafted into service from 1944 to 1946. In his younger years he was a semi-pro baseball player. He played for teams of White Fish Bay, Harvey Wallbangers and Town of Lake as a pitcher. He was also a semi-pro bowler on a team of State Champions. He worked for Briggs and Stratton as a Layout Supervisor Inspector, while residing in Sussex, until his retirement in 1987 when he moved to Lake Wisconsin for 13 years, then later to Waupaca.
We all remember him as a Mr. Sportsman. He never met a ball he didn’t like. Whenever we’d ask if he was watching a certain program he’s say “Does it have a ball?” There wasn’t a sport he didn’t like. He was a Brewer, Bucks, Badgers and Packers Fan, but his main love was for his family and his country.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Pavilion in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to cancer research.
