Of Waupaca, age 54, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at home. She was born in Waupaca on January 12, 1965 to Dennis and Mary (Wallen) Amundson. She went to school at First Baptist in Waupaca and Iola-Scandinavia. Darla-rae graduated from Trinity Lutheran College in Issaquah, WA in 1999. Her degree was a major in Youth and Family Ministries and a minor in Music. She was a Youth Pastor at congregations in first Montana and then Minnesota. Darla-rae moved back to Waupaca and was Youth Coordinator at Trinity Lutheran Church and then Youth Director at Scandinavia Lutheran Church. She was Program Director, Client Services, as well as a Recovery Coach at Foundations for Living. She was also a junior high and high school teacher at First Assembly of God Church in Waupaca. She was an Advocate at Waupaca County Drug Court. Darla-rae was one half of the musical duo Broken Road.
She will be greatly missed by her mom: Mary Sisk; siblings: Jeff (Sandy) Tryba; Dennis (Deanna) Amundson, Jean (Ed) Runyon, Danny (Julie) Sisk, Andria (Josh) Lederhaus, Tom Christensen and Brandon Christensen; step mom: Theresa Amundson, special friends: Jan and Phil Blohm, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Amundson, sister, Sherry Bowler, step father, Richard Sisk and grandparents, Daniel and Lorna Amundson, Harold and Thelma Wallen.
The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Waupaca. Friends and family may gather on Friday at the church from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Instead of a Benefit there will be a Celebration of Life for Darla-rae at 12 p.m. at Silver Lake Lanes. Memorials are appreciated to Foundations for Living.
