Betty Jane Kussmann Obituary

Betty Jane Kussmann, of Waupaca, age 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 31, 1928 to Fred and Meta (Jobs) Russ. On September 4, 1943 she married Gilbert Kussmann. Betty retired from Master Lock after working there for over 20 years, and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union (UAW).

Gilbert and Betty lived & raised their sons in Milwaukee most of their lives, retiring to Ogdensburg in 1982 and moving to Waupaca in 2012. Betty had a green thumb, growing large vegetable and flower gardens for many years. During their retirement, Betty & Gilbert enjoyed traveling around the country in their Winnebago, spending many Wisconsin winters in sunny Florida, but most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Waupaca Christian Church.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Roger (Joey) Kussmann of Omro.

Grandchildren: Carey (John) Andersen, Erin (Randy) Sarauer, Colleen (John) Ernst, Connie (Dan) Salsbury, Nathan (Jen) Kussmann, Chris (Doug) O’Loughlin, Carl Kussmann, and Mican (Servo) Soriano.

Great-grandchildren: Samantha, Drew, Hailey, Montana, Justin, Kadence, Logan, Avery, Tegan, Alexandra, Avery, Keaton, Caden, Cole, Reece, Reid, Liam, and Mateo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 siblings; a son, Gordon, in 1991; and her husband of 69 years, Gilbert in 2013.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Waupaca Christian Church, E2249 King Rd, Waupaca, with Pastor Carl Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Ogdensburg.  The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca assisted the family with arrangements.

Our family was so very blessed to have been a part of her 91 years. She was a loving wife, proud Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Her zest for life, witty sense of humor, incredible strength, and of course her enjoyment of a glass of wine or an old fashioned will be missed. We will cherish those memories forever.

We would like to thank Manawa Community Nursing Home and ThedaCare Hospice for the wonderful care given to Betty and her family.
