Welcome to the memorial page for

Alice Louise (Long) Hinds

June 24, 1930 ~ September 15, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Alice passed away at Manor Care, Pewaukee surrounded by the love of her children. Born in Weyauwega, WI the daughter of George and Ulabelle Long, she was born the seventh of eight siblings. No longer in pain Alice has now joined all of her siblings and parents.

Married at a young age to Russel Heimbruch they had 5 children, Cathy (Mike) Ott, Rebecca (Gary) Strike, Donna (Bill) Ringenoldus, and Glenn Heimbruch.  First born daughter Suzanne Heimbruch passed away in 1954 at age 1.  Alice continued to make yearly birthday cake for Susie, never forgetting the pain of losing a child.  At age 40 she found herself alone and needing to support 4 children, she excelled while attending Fox Valley Technical College while holding down a job, and became a LPN. Alice worked at the Manawa Community Nursing Home from the day it opened, providing many with caring compassion.

Alice married William Schultz in 1973, he preceded her in death. She met Paul Hinds, married and moved to Camp Douglas and was employed at Tomah VA Hospital.  After retirement they enjoyed spending winters at Zephrhills, Florida with her favorite sister, Helen and brother-in-law Louie.  After Paul passed away she moved back to the Waupaca area for 10 years.  With her health declining she moved in with her devoted son, Glenn until she was able to go to an apartment, where she was provided with meals and was able to have a cat.

Though fiercely independent and stubborn she finally realized that she was no longer able to live alone and moved to Manor Care in Pewaukee.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and being mobile with the help of her scooter.  Alice loved creating beautiful quilts, cooking, gardening, listening to books on tape, smoking and spending time with her family and pets.  Alice is further survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, step children, nieces and nephews.  Alice’s wishes are to have no formal services.  Rest in peace Granny, know that you are loved and will be missed.
