Richard W. Moore

Richard Wesley Moore, age 94, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, died Sunday, February 7, 2016.  He was born November 27, 1921 in Ladysmith, WI, the son of the late George Wesley and Florence (Timm) Moore.  Years later, the family moved to Ashland, WI where he attended Ashland High School.  He was a veteran of WWII in the US Army Air Force, serving in Europe, earning three Bronze Stars and three Gold Bars.   He was employed as a seaman on the Great Lakes for many years.

He is survived by his children: Judy (Bob) Schneider; John Moore (Barbara Bodam); JoAnn (Steven) Poulos; Sue Anne (Randy) Vannatter; Chris Jack; a brother, Tim Moore; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Erickson; a brother, George Moore; and a son, Michael Murphy. 

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.  in the Olson Hall Chapel at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, with Chaplain Rich Engle officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI.
