Lurana M. (Lucht) Nelson

Of Waupaca, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center.  She was born in New London, on June 17, 1950 to the late William and Carmen (VanStraten) Lucht.  On November 16, 1968 she married Dennis Nelson.  Lurana was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She worked for 20 years for the city of Waupaca Park & Recreation and then for 15 years as a teacher’s aide for the Waupaca School District.  Lurana touched many with her kindness and selflessness, always putting others before herself.  She was very funny, had an infectious smile and saw the positive in life. She lived by her favorite moto “Life is Good.” Lurana enjoyed spending time on the water and especially loved time spent with her family. She also enjoyed cheering on the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.

She will be sadly missed by her husband: Dennis; children: Jason (Sarah) Nelson and Nieka (Thomas) Wendt; grandchildren: Ella, Kolton, Lily Lu and Drew; brothers and sister: Larry (Sandra) Lucht; Jack (Janice) Lucht; Carl (Kate) Lucht and Jane (Frank) Voss; mother and father-in-law: George and Dorothy Nelson; brother-in-law: Larry (special friend, Sally) Nelson; other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Lisa Lucht and sister-in-law, Carol Nelson. 

The Memorial Mass will be on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 3 p.m.  at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic, 2845 Shadow Road, Waupaca.  The visitation will be on Monday from 12 p.m. until the time of Mass.  A memorial has been established.  The family would like to thank Fox Valley Oncology and Hematology, Dr. Guenther and his staff.
