Of Oregon, WI, age 80, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017. He was born in Waupaca County, WI on November 13, 1936 to the late Elmer and Irma (Stedman) Shanklin. On July 24, 1965 he married Margaret “Sue” Trewyn. Alvin was a veteran, serving in the Air Force and was a licensed pilot. Alvin attended Hillcrest Bible Church. Originally he was a carpenter by trade and then went on to own and operate two A & W Restaurants in southeast WI. After this he became a Certified Massage Therapist at Abby Resort in Lake Geneva. He then was a CNA at UW Hospital and Clinics.
He will be sadly missed by his wife: Margaret “Sue”; son: Gregory (Wendy) Shanklin of Madison; daughters: Linda (Steve) Fielder of Lincoln, NE; Susan (Perry) Barth of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Gwendelynn Rose, Wyatt James, Steve (Theresa), Andrea (Tim), Jessica (Brian), great grandson: Mason; brother: Lowell (Ardelle) Shanklin of Iola; sister-in-law: Helen Shanklin of Winneconne; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Terry.
The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca. The visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Lower Amherst Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
